HomeCOVID-19 ScheduleRSVPFAQ

A NOTE ABOUT WEATHER

We will do our best to ensure sunshine, but weather can be merciless. If the forecast calls for just a chance of showers, we will likely proceed with the itinerary as outlined on the schedule page. If it is forecast to be a total washout, we will hold a simplified ceremony at Bunker. If the weather is looking iffy, we will communicate our plan to you via this website and the e-mail address you provide when you RSVP. We will make the final call Friday evening.

A NOTE ABOUT CHILDREN

Your children are more than welcome to attend the ceremony (and bike parade!), but we hope that you understand that our reception will be adults only. Please let us know if you would like help finding a babysitter in Portland.

WHAT ABOUT GIFTS?

We have been living together for several years and have accumulated a nice collection of homeware, gear, etc. We truly believe that your presence is a gift, so there is no pressure to get or give us anything else! If you feel compelled to contribute $15 to our honeymoon fund, Tom's Venmo handle is @Thomas-Nosal. As an alternative, we would gratefully accept if anyone offered to buff our sailboat in the spring.

WHERE IS ...?

• The ceremony is taking place at Fish Point
• More to come...

WHERE CAN I STAY IN PORTLAND?

There are several hotels near Portland's waterfront that as of January 2022 had rooms available in the vicinity of $300/night. They are all pretty well situated relative to the ceremony and reception locations. Below are some potentially more affordable options (prices below based on a search in January 2022). Portland has been discovered - book sooner rather than later!

Hampton Inn: $250/night
Percy Inn: $139/night. Charming! Walking distance to the reception.
Inn at Saint John: $179/night (shared bath); $220/night (private bath). A little removed from downtown but not too far. Let Tom know if you book here.
Black Elephant Hostel: Private rooms for like $120/night but some interesting group options, like a room for 6 for $345/night. Beds in coed rooms for $55/night. Right in our neighborhood!
Clarion Hotel: $180/night. Surrounded by traffic sewers, but close enough to town.

WHAT IS THE MAINE IRISH HERITAGE CENTER?

The MIHC is the hub of all things Irish in Maine! The building was dedicated in 1893, and until the late 1990's was home to Saint Dominic's Roman Catholic Church. It was transferred to the City in 2000 and ultimately the MIHC in 2003. In 2006, a nor'easter blew the 4100 pound, 114 year-old bell off it's moorings, but it has thankfully been restored!
